WHAT WE OFFER
Green Ops Fishing delivers a variety of services designed to strengthen connection, build resilience, and encourage well-being through outdoor and community‑focused experiences. They create pathways for people to enjoy time on the water, take part in shared activities, access helpful resources, and engage with a welcoming network of anglers and supporters. By combining hands‑on opportunities with advocacy and collaborative partnerships, Green Ops Fishing continues to champion mental‑health awareness and foster a culture of understanding and support.
Programs
Green Ops Fishing is built on the belief that meaningful support should be both personal and practical. Our programs are designed to create real moments of relief, connection, and empowerment for the military members and first responders we serve. Two cornerstone programs currently drive that mission forward.
Angler Program
Angler Essentials Program
The Angler Program is our flagship effort, built around the simple but powerful idea that time on the water can restore something deeper than words capture. Through this program, we identify deserving military or first‑response personnel and pair them with an organized fishing charter for a dedicated day on the water. It’s more than a fishing trip — it’s a chance to step away from the weight of service, reconnect with the outdoors, and share an experience that’s both grounding and memorable.
The Anglers Essentials Program extends the same spirit as the Angler Program but in a different form. Green Ops Fishing assembles complete, species‑specific gear packages — rods, reels, tackle, and the essentials needed to confidently target a particular fish. These packages are built with care and intention, then provided directly to selected recipients. It’s a way of equipping them not just with tools, but with the opportunity to continue fishing long after the moment of support has passed.
Together, these programs form the backbone of our work today. At the same time, we’re actively developing additional initiatives that will broaden our impact and deepen the ways we serve those who serve. The mission continues to grow, and so do the programs that carry it forward.
Peer Support Initiative
Initiatives
The Peer Support Initiative reflects Green Ops Fishing’s commitment to strengthening the well-being of first responders beyond the water. Built around collaboration, recognition, and direct reinvestment, this initiative channels community support into the peer support programs that serve as lifelines within first responder services.

Each year, Green Ops Fishing selects a first responder service to be featured on a limited‑run t‑shirt, produced in partnership with Grit Outdoors Apparel. The shirt’s logo proudly displays that year’s chosen service, turning a simple piece of apparel into a symbol of solidarity and appreciation. What makes the initiative truly impactful is its structure: 100% of the proceeds Green Ops Fishing receives from every shirt sold go directly to improving that service’s peer support system.

These funds help services strengthen internal support networks, expand mental health resources, and reinforce the systems that enable first responders to take care of one another. By spotlighting a different service each year, the initiative not only provides tangible assistance but also encourages the growth and adoption of peer support programs across the broader first responder community.
The Peer Support Initiative stands as a reminder that support doesn’t end with a thank‑you — it continues through action, investment, and a commitment to the people who show up for others every day.
Virtual Fishing Tournaments
Events
Green Ops Fishing continues to expand the ways we build community, connection, and support for those who serve. Our virtual tournament program, hosted through the Fish Donkey App, brings that mission into a modern, accessible format that allows anglers across the region — and across service backgrounds — to participate on their own schedule, from their own waters.

Using Fish Donkey’s secure, real‑time tournament platform, Green Ops Fishing organizes species‑specific and seasonal competitions that are open to both recreational anglers and the military and first‑response personnel at the heart of our mission. Participants log their catches directly through the app, which verifies entries with photos, measurements, and GPS‑validated submissions. This approach keeps the competition fair, transparent, and engaging, while removing the barriers of travel, cost, and scheduling that often limit traditional tournaments.

These virtual events do more than crown winners. They create a shared experience — a reason for people to get outside, reconnect with the water, and engage with a community that understands the value of camaraderie and healthy competition. They also serve as an additional avenue for fundraising and awareness, helping fuel the programs that provide direct support to our recipients.

As Green Ops Fishing continues to grow, our virtual tournaments stand as a flexible, scalable way to bring more people into the mission, strengthen our community, and celebrate the sport that anchors everything we do.
Community Networking
Private Community Group
Green Ops Fishing maintains a private Facebook group exclusively for verified military members and first responders — a focused space built around one purpose: helping each other become better, more confident anglers. This group isn’t designed for personal storytelling or emotional support; it’s a practical hub where members can ask questions, share techniques, and exchange real‑world fishing knowledge with people who understand both the craft and the community we serve.

Inside the group, members can seek advice on everything from seasonal patterns and species behavior to gear selection, rig setups, and local water conditions. It’s also a place where experienced anglers can offer guidance, helping others shorten the learning curve and get more out of their time on the water. When opportunities arise, members often use the group to connect for meetups or coordinate casual fishing outings, turning online conversations into real‑world experiences.

This private community extends the mission of Green Ops Fishing by creating a trusted environment where service members and first responders can learn, teach, and connect through the sport that brings us together.

Education & Awareness
Mental health injuries continue to affect countless Canadian military members and first responders, often long after their service ends. At Green Ops Fishing, we are committed to increasing national awareness of these challenges and strengthening public understanding of the realities faced by those who serve.
Through ongoing education efforts, awareness campaigns, and community engagement, we work to highlight the impact of operational stress injuries, PTSD, and related mental health conditions. Our goal is to foster empathy, reduce stigma, and encourage meaningful support for individuals and families navigating these experiences.
To help Canadians stay informed and connected, we regularly share updates, resources, and educational content across our social media channels and on our official website. Visitors can explore program details, learn more about mental health in the service community, and discover ways to get involved in supporting our mission.
